The Democratic Club of Greater Tracy participated in Tracy's Annual 4th of July Parade with a patriotic theme, “Keep Democracy Alive,” emphasizing the freedoms that come with living in a democracy. When asked what form of government the delegates had created at the Constitutional Convention of 1787, Benjamin Franklin said, “A republic...if you can keep it,” reflecting the idea that maintaining a free and functional democracy requires constant effort and vigilance. Your vote is your voice! It is a call to action, in an effort to keep democracy and liberty alive, and to ensure we continue to have free and fair elections, among other freedoms.
We are all doing our best to illustrate that American values, specifically those laid out quite clearly in The Constitution, and our way of life, are for everyone, not just a select few.
We encourage all to remember that this country was founded by and made great through the dreams and hard work of immigrants. America is for everyone…and always has been.
