President's Corner: A Moment to Recharge

August is shaping up to be a quieter month — a welcome opportunity for us to rest, reflect, and recharge. After a whirlwind of successful events, including the Bake Back Better Cupcake Fundraiser, May Day, No Kings, and Good Trouble Lives On rallies, it's time to pause and take stock.

Did our activities accomplish what we set out to do? Where should we focus our energy next? These are the questions we'll be considering as we plan for the busy fall season.

In September, we're excited to participate in Tracy Connects on September 6th and celebrate Mexican Independence Day on September 14th, with more events on the horizon. Behind the scenes, we'll also be reviewing our Club's business structure to better position ourselves for long-term success and manage expenses more effectively.

One important change: we will be closing our office space at Workvine 209 Suites. However, we will continue to hold our monthly Club meetings there in their Training Room. I'll be reaching out for volunteers to help pack up and store our items — your help is greatly appreciated.

A special thank you to everyone who helped make our Bake Back Better fundraiser such a tremendous success. We are thrilled to continue our collaboration with this fantastic organization next year. Their support helps us meet key financial goals — and we're not stopping there. Stay tuned for details about our upcoming fall fundraisers.

We're putting FUN into fundraising!

Enjoy the rest of your summer and thank you for all you do.

In solidarity, Cheryl Hays — President, Democratic Club of Greater Tracy

ICE Crackdowns Hit California's Economy

Since June, aggressive immigration enforcement is having real economic consequences:

  • Private work attendance dropped by 3.1%
  • Noncitizen women work attendance down 8.6%
  • Industries impacted: construction, hospitality, agriculture
  • Estimated economic fallout: $278 billion

Undocumented workers support up to 9% of CA's GDP. Without them, we risk long-term damage.

Should Democrats Gerrymander Too?

As red states redraw the rules, should California fight back in kind?
