**Community Highlights from Local Leaders | April–May 2025** We're keeping tabs on the leaders representing Tracy and the broader San Joaquin region — so you don't have to. Here's a roundup of recent legislative efforts, initiatives, and accomplishments from our elected officials. ## Congressman Josh Harder - **Cracking Down on Drug Trafficking:** On March 21st, Rep. Harder introduced a bipartisan bill at the Sheriff's Office aimed at stopping drug trafficking operations and increasing resources for law enforcement. - **Supporting Valley Farmers:** On March 26th, he announced bipartisan action to protect Central Valley farmers from rising tariffs, addressing one of the region's most pressing economic threats. - **Empowering Student Musicians:** On April 1st, Harder announced his nomination of five high school marching bands to perform in Washington, D.C. next summer. ## Current California State Senator Jerry McNerney - **AI Accountability in the Workplace:** McNerney submitted the **"No Robo Bosses Act,"** pushing for regulations and standards on AI use in employment settings to protect workers. - **Global Affairs Commentary:** He also weighed in on the Trump/Vance/Zelensky meeting — sharing a scathing post about its implications. [Read coverage on the NY Times](https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/01/us/politics/zelensky-showdown-trump.html) ## Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom - **Pushing for Utility Transparency:** Ransom introduced her first bill, **AB 13**, requiring more consistent reporting from the Public Utilities Commission to protect consumers from rate increases. - **Wildfire Response Leadership:** She joined Speaker Robert Rivas and other Assembly members to meet with emergency personnel and fast-track wildfire recovery funding. In December, she was also appointed **Chair of the Emergency Management Committee.** ## Mayor Dan Arriola – City of Tracy Mayor Arriola and the Tracy City Council have been _busy_. Here's what's been accomplished in recent months: - Hired a new Interim City Attorney - Filled a City Council vacancy - Secured a **$41.3M grant** for the Corral Hollow Road project - Fully staffed the Tracy Police Department - Attended major national conferences (U.S. Conference of Mayors, National League of Cities) - Participated in Hill Day lobbying in Washington, D.C. - Presented the **2025 State of the City** - Hosted Student Government Day and the Mayor's Youth Town Hall - Celebrated the **175th Anniversary of San Joaquin County** - Was appointed to the **SJ Council of Governments, SJCOG Megaregion Working Group,** and **SJ Regional Rail Commission** _And so much more..._ ## Stay Informed We'll continue tracking what our elected leaders are doing to serve Tracy and the surrounding region.
