Following the success of the first No Kings Rally in June, the community once again came together for No Kings 2 on October 18. Through the collaborative efforts of The Democratic Club of Greater Tracy, No Kings Coalition, Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ), and Indivisible Tracy, the event was thoughtfully organized to deliver another impactful day of civic engagement and community connection.
More than 300 participants gathered at the corner of Lowell Avenue and Tracy Boulevard for a half day of peaceful yet powerful action, including a Honk and Wave and the unifying “Hands Across Tracy” demonstration.
The rally opened with a warm welcome from Jenny Wood of the No Kings Coalition, followed by inspiring remarks from Mayor Dan Ariola and San Joaquin County Democratic Party Chair Manuel Zapata. Jenny Wood, Robin Cole, and Cindi Reis led the crowd in spirited chants, while Sean Thompson provided a safety briefing and energized the group before the activities began.
Community Engagement & Action
In addition to the rally, the event featured several community-driven activities:
Poster-making station
Food collection for Central Valley farm workers
Voter registration and Democratic Club table
No Kings buttons fundraiser benefiting SURJ
Sign-up table for future events
These stations gave attendees opportunities to take direct action, support local causes, and stay engaged beyond the day’s event.
Inspiring Speakers & Closing Messages
The event concluded with Indivisible Tracy leading an inspiring lineup of speakers: Dr. Ines Ruiz-Huston of El Concilio; Dotty Nygard, Tracy City Council Member, Retired ER Nurse, and CNA Organizer at Sutter Tracy; and Lisa Roth of Indivisible Tracy. Their words reinforced the day’s theme of unity, democracy, and community empowerment.
The weather was beautiful, the atmosphere uplifting, and the message resounding:
There are no kings in America—democracy belongs to the people!
